Donations / support

Nightshift Studio is self funded. Help fund our war chest.

Direct support helps Nightshift move faster, stay independent, and cover the tools, contractors, and production runway needed to ship stronger work.

Funding posture

At this stage, support is less about buying every piece of software from scratch and more about scaling the content library, production capacity, and release pipeline around tools the studio already knows how to use.

Funding goals

What support unlocks first

  • Hire contractors and part-time specialists to remove pipeline bottlenecks.
  • Acquire engine, art, and production tools needed for a stable internal stack.
  • Extend runway for shipping a higher-quality flagship release.

Why it matters

What faster funding changes

  • Less context switching across many hats.
  • More time spent on systems, polish, documentation, and business development.
  • Better consistency across public releases and studio-facing tools.

Current needs

Motion capture buildout

  • Build out an in-house mocap solution for animation and prototyping.
  • Add cameras, another set of IMU sensors, and related capture gear.
  • Cover development costs around calibration, workflow, cleanup, and testing.

Current needs

Software seats and upgrades

  • Marvelous Designer license coverage.
  • Ornatrix license coverage.
  • Other software license upgrades as the studio scales beyond indie-seat limits.

Current needs

Server and infrastructure costs

  • Maintain the small local development box used for current server testing.
  • Scale hosting to Hetzner or a similar provider when public load demands it.
  • Keep development, testing, and live service infrastructure separated cleanly.

Current needs

Contractors and team growth

  • Outsource art production so core time can stay focused on game design and direction.
  • Delegate specialized work when it removes bottlenecks from the production pipeline.
  • Eventually support part-time or full-time help for marketing, community, business operations, and family roles where they make sense.

Current needs

Hardware upgrade planning

  • Nightshift is still being developed on a 2080 Ti paired with an overclocked i7-8700K.
  • Agentic development workflows are starting to expose the age of that hardware more clearly.
  • Upgrades are being planned, but the current market keeps this lower priority and further down the list.
  • The constraint is not a detriment yet; it helps keep content honest for older systems.
